This month I&#8217;m covering how to make Flying Geese blocks. The Virginia Reel uses 8 of them. I like to think of them as Half Square Triangle&#8217;s bigger brother. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video, I show two methods &#8211; one-at-a-time, and no waste four-at-a-time. I prefer to use the four-at-a-time method whenever I can. I love the fact that there is nothing left over when you are done. All it takes is a little math and you are good to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One-at-a-time has its place too. Here are the two main reasons that I will use the one-at-a-time method over my favorite method:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You only need one or two blocks<\/li><li>You have directional fabric that needs to be cut in a specific direction.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I think the first reason is really obvious, but my second reason is definitely important, and something to take into account when you are making your blocks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video, I use solid colors, but if I were to use hearts, or unicorns, or something else that was important for me that they show up all the same way, DON&#8217;T use the four-at-a-time method. You will end up with geese pointing in all different directions for each block.
