I know that I say this a lot, but I am so excited to finally release the first block in the Quilt Along<\/a>. I like to call it the Sticks block. I’m sure that it has a bunch of other names as well. The reason that I chose it was that it’s a great beginner block. It’s visually a high-impact block and there are no matching seams. I don’t think you can get any better than that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to focus more on cutting fabric in this video. Once you learn to cut correctly, you’re set for life. That, and sewing a quarter-inch seam<\/a>, and you’ve got most of the tools you need to make beautiful quilt tops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love making sticks so much that I created a pattern for a baby quilt that only uses sticks in it. It also uses strip piecing, but that is something that I’ll cover in my next quilt block in the quilt along. You’ll just have to stay tuned in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
